VOIP - 911/E911
(Enhanced 911)
We care about our customers. That's why
TouchTone VoIP is E-911 (Enhanced 911) compliant and is a feature given
to all our customers (where available) as a courtesy.
How It Works
911 calls are routed to designated Public Safety Answering Points or
PSAPs (local or county police, fire and rescue departments). E-911
automatically provides PSAPs with the telephone number of the 911 call,
and is also capable of transmitting the customer's name and home address
to assist in dispatching emergency care.
In some areas of the country, PSAPs are
not capable of receiving all information related to the 911 call. If
this is the case, the customer may have to provide this information to
the PSAP when making a 911 call (like you would when calling from a
traditional phone line).
When you first sign up, you will
provide the name, address and location that will be forwarded to the
PSAP (if applicable). TouchTone does not verify the accuracy of any
information provided by the customer. It is the duty of the customer at
all times to verify that the registered location information is accurate
and up-to-date, especially each time the customer has moved. It is the
responsibility of the customer, not TouchTone, to verify that E911
service is working and that the correct PSAP has been selected.
To find out if your E911 has been
activated and working properly, simply call TouchTone Customer Service
at 800-266-4006. Customers should also call the non-emergency telephone
number for their local emergency service provider and request
information for means of testing a 911 call to that PSAP.
Important Note:
VoIP technology is not as reliable for 911 calls as a traditional wired
telephone service. For example, if the power or broadband connection
goes out, you will not be able to make a 911 call using your VoIP
service. It is important that your VoIP service is supplemented by a
land line or wireless phone service. Please call TouchTone at
800-266-4006 for additional information.
VoIP: How It Works
Set
up and installation are easy! Simply plug your computer,
high-speed Internet connection and standard household phone
into the provided Linksys®
adapter. Calls are made and
received the same way you would with any other telephone –
simply pick it up and dial the number you wish to call.

Before
you begin make certain that you have the following:

An active
TouchTone VoIP account and an active Internet connection
>
Analog telephone(s) or fax machine(s)
>
At least one computer for configuration of the Phone Adapter
Instructions:
1. Connect the included Ethernet network cable to the INTERNET port of
the Phone Adapter (provided). Connect the other end to one
of your router's Ethernet ports.
2.
Connect the included power adapter to the POWER port of the
Internet Phone Adapter.
Connect the other end to an electrical outlet.
3.
Using a telephone cable, connect your telephone to the PHONE
1 port of the Internet Phone Adapter.IMPORTANT: Do not
connect the PHONE port to the telephone wall jack. Be
certain to only connect a telephone or fax machine to the
PHONE port, otherwise, the Phone Adapter or the telephone
wiring in your home may be damaged.
4. If you have a second TouchTone VoIP account, then connect another
telephone or fax machine to PHONE 2 port of the Internet
Phone Adapter.
5. The Power, Ethernet, and Phone LEDs will be solidly lit when the
Internet Phone Adapter is ready to use.
6. To connect to the Internet, follow the instructions provided by your
Internet Service Provider.
You have
now successfully completed installation. You can now pick up
the phone and make calls!

SPA2102 Phone Adapter Installation
The package contents include:

Before
you begin make certain that you have the following:

TouchTone VoIP account and an active Internet connection
>
Analog telephone(s) or fax machine(s)
>
At least one computer for configuration of the Phone Adapter
Instructions:
1. Connect one end of the RJ-11 phone cable to the Phone Adapter's PHONE
1 port.
2.
Connect the other end to your analog telephone or fax
machine. IMPORTANT: Do not connect the PHONE port to the
telephone wall jack. Be certain to only connect a telephone
or fax machine to the PHONE port, otherwise, the Phone
Adapter or the telephone wiring in your home may be damaged.
3.
Repeat steps 1-2 with the PHONE 2 port.
4. Disconnect your pC from the modem. You will use the Ethernet network
cable in the next step.
5. Connect the Ethernet network cable to the Ethernet port of the Phone
Adapter. Now connect the other end to the Ethernet network
port of your PC.
6. Connect one end of the Ethernet network cable (included) to the
Internet port of the Phone Adapter. Now connect the other
end to your broadband modem.
7. Connect
the power adapter (included) to the Power port of the Phone
Adapter, and then plug the power adapter into an electrical
outlet.
NOTE: Make
sure that your PC's Ethernet adapter is set to obtain an IP
address automatically. For more information, refer to
Windows Help.
You have
now successfully completed installation. If you need to

Installation and Compliance Guide.
